In reply to Aashish G's post on September 2, The Vista machine connects to the Airport just fine, excellent signal strength. When I am in network settings, it shows a good connection between the computer and the Airport, but it shows the Airport is not connected to the modem.

I know the Airport is working fine because I am sitting here replying to this on one of the two Macs on this network. The internet was working for two days, and then it just stopped. In reply to Jesse and Roxy's post on September 12, One more update. I did everything recommended in this thread up, and realized the problem is not with the network.

I connected directly to the modem, restarted the computer and modem, obviously no internet. So I went into control panel, and the computer says it is connected to the internet. It won't let me diagnose anything if the computer thinks there is a connection.

I don't want her to have to take it in somewhere to pay money and find out it is a simple setting that reconfigured when the computer crashed. I must say, I have a lot of respect for the people that work on and maintain windows machines everyday, these things are a pain to even figure out what is wrong, let alone fix a problem.

Your firmware upgrade might accept these protocols and avoid the issues with vista not accepting the dhcp packets request. You could leave it this way it will work just fine. But once i got online i then i found the firmware upgrade for my Linksys router downloaded it and then installed it and then went back to put all nics wireless and wired back to full DHCP and everything is running fine In reply to Networkingisapain in vista's post on November 6, My vista machine woke up one day from hibernation and decided it could no longer identify my wired network.

I've tried a number of other fixes, including modifying my registry, and they do not work. How can I get in to see the DNS servers I'm hooked up to a Motorola don't know exactly what model, I'm not home at the moment to look cable modem? I went through this menace during last two days couldnt find anything absolutely anything on internet to solve this problem for me. I called my internet service company helpline, the guy told me to connect the laptop through ethernet cable and allow him to take control, he thereafter just changed the name of network to one with less alphabets, password or phrase to a short pin of numeric ones, wpa-personal to wep and everything started working :.

Change the network key type from the configuration panel of your router. Did your new router come with a CD? Did u use the same SSID for the new router, as it was in the old one? Go for a new SSID.
