This is how the eligibility for licensure is determined. Once the prerequisite courses for nursing are completed, Undeclared Health students can apply for an Associate in Applied Science degree major in Nursing. Students under an Undeclared Health major who are not admitted to the nursing program after completing the 30 th credit will have to choose another major.
Individuals receiving a financial aid who failed to change their major to the 30 th credit may experience a disruption in their financial aid award. Borough of Manhattan Community College has created an evening or weekend program for part-time students with an Associate Degree in Nursing. The goal of the part-time evening or weekend nursing program at BMCC is to fulfill the aspirations of a large portion of New York City residents who have not gained admission to various nursing programs in the City University because of family obligations or financial struggles requiring them to work full-time during the day.
I'm curios because a lot of people told BMCC is becoming very competitive and many people apply to liberal arts and then switch to nursing. Are you a transfer from another college or do you have a previous degree? Did you have to take any admission exam? What's your GPA like? I apologize for all this, but any help will be greatly appreciated! At the moment I'm at NYU in the Liberal Arts program and looking to transfer to their nursing program in the spring, but I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket, in case I don't get accepted.
My GPA right now is about 3. Apr 25, For now, I'm only in for the pre reqs as far as I know. I have to go down to the school on Friday to take one writing test and speak to an advisor. I will tell you that if getting into the Nursing School turns into jumping through hoops I'd rather spend more money and just go to a private less competitive school. I totally agree Evie!! That's exactly my point, I know I will have a huge loan to pay back once I graduate but I rather do that then compete with other 3.
Apr 26, May 11, I have the same question. I am going to transfer to BMCC for spring , but not sure if I should apply as liberal arts or pre-nursing student. There is no pre-nursing or pre-clinical field in the application, only liberal arts eve or day.

S degree in nursing that prepares nursing students to meet the demands of patient care in a full range of health care settings.
If you wish to study for two years so as to become a licensed nurse, then BMCC is your sure bet. We hope that you find it satisfying. Jan 15, Your sched for 1st semester looks good. God willing, if u get in the program, ur 4th 5th 6th and 7th semesters will be clinical nursing courses. Jan 29, I am also looking into the evening program for BMCC.
But I just want to warn you that sometimes taking too many pre-reqs at once may affect your ability to really focus on each class by getting straight A's. The only way to get into the nursing program is to make straight A's in all of the pre-reqs. I think where some people mess up at is trying to hurry up and get them out of the way. I'm personally taking it slow. I know I'm not too good in math or science so I'll be taking pre-reqs at a time so that I can truly focus on getting all A's.
Whatever you choose to do, I wish you well. Good Luck! Nov 4, Nov 5,
